Where we began to where we are now.
My Plastering Journey
I started my journey at 20 years old with no idea what career I wanted to pursue. In need of money, I started working for a talented man who was a plasterer and created fibrous plaster mouldings and the business he began, Abby Mouldings, still holds an outstanding reputation today. Before long, he taught me his trade and I too found a passion for creating and fitting bespoke plaster mouldings.
After four years, I went self employed and started James Fletcher Bespoke Mouldings and Plastering. Although initially it felt like a big leap, soon I grew my own customer base and organically gained more work. Over time, my reputation for completing work to a high standard and being reliable spread and I was getting more jobs than I could complete alone.
Growing The Business
Ten years after becoming a self employed plasterer, I set about finding like- minded plasterers to join the business. Today, we are a small but talented team, who can complete all areas of plastering, from rendering and skimming to restoring and matching original plaster mouldings. Being able to manage and complete large residential and commercial plastering jobs, has been a great reminder for me of everything I achieved since I was that clueless twenty something.
Having worked all over the country, South Devon is where I now live and complete most of my work. I (like most tradesmen) enjoy pointing out to my wife and three sons every building I have ever worked in, as I take pride in the work I complete!
